The Cedars Social Happy Hour
I was gratefully invited (so many drinks were needed for so many reasons last week) out to a media preview of the new happy hour menu at The Cedars Social c/o Big Ink PR. I am quite pleased with the fact that this place is still standing, even with an owner change. So many restaurants in Dallas shut down, so the fact that they are still open and innovating is refreshing. I hardly ever agree to media previews unless I have some sort of connection to the place. Basically, I have to give a sh*t about it one way or another. And if it works into the schedule.
The Cedars Social will always be A+ in my book because their cocktails have ALWAYS been on point even through the years, and one time they let Zach straight up sleep at a table while his friend and I carried on. Oh, and Cindy's [of CocoAndre Chocolatier] son works there too, thanks to the new team, Mario and Elisama Francisco (BOH and FOH husband and wife team, respectively) pictured below.
Happy Hour Menu:
A few of my favorites are pictured below. It started getting a little blurry after a while, but I remember enjoying myself thoroughly.
Highlight dish of the night was the calamari for sure.
Sirloin tacos were on point. Definitely recommend.
The sweet and spicy wings were quite messy to eat, and I may even suggest being that annoying person to ask for the sauce on the side, but I was pretty buzzed and ate about 15 by the end of the night nonetheless if that tells you anything.
I enjoyed the flatbread, but I will provide a disclaimer for the fact that there is blue cheese on there, so if you're not a fan of warm blue cheese then I have warned you. Otherwise, it's quite enjoyable.
Come for the drinks, stay by eating a variety of foods, and enjoy great happy hour prices in a beautiful interior and great view from the exterior!
Bonus drink (pictured below) not on the happy hour menu and not priced for happy hour is the activated charcoal Amaretto Sour. Ask them about it. I am a fan of any well crafted egg white based drink, and I am sure they can make any of those with the activated charcoal. Be careful though, because apparently it cancels out any medication you may be taking. So if you want to get real crazy one night, and void your birth control, go for it!
